Well I've taken it on myself to root around the internet and try and write a few things for publications. It's a pretty daunting task up front, looking over the variety of ezines, small press, and the like that are available (or not depending on the genre). However I suspect it is going to be a useful tool for refining my own work. Lord knows I need it I'm sure. The ideas are there but the polish isn't. Once I narrowed it down to a few I've decided to submit something to http://www.innsmouthfreepress.com/ for their upcoming book Candle in the Attic Window. The genre they are looking for is Gothic Horror especially different takes that still adhere to the style basics.
So far I'm at err 3100 words after a few days. Starting to hit a few snags when it comes to plot and that sort of thing. My brain's never done well with short stories. However this endeavor is all about stretching my mind and trying to grow.
Will keep folks updated.
